2012 NCAA Bracket, Louisville Vs. Davidson Final Score: Cardinals Win 69-62 To End Drought

Ending a two-year run of NCAA Tournament Round of 64 futility, the No. 4-seeded Louisville Cardinals took care of the No. 13-seeded Davidson Wildcats, 69-62, in a game that was more comfortable than the final score suggested on Thursday. The Cardinals led basically from the middle of the first half on and were up by as many as 15 points late in the second half.

Davidson, which was the 12th-highest scoring team in the nation this year, were held to their second lowest point total of the season, the lowest coming when they scored 61 in a loss to the Charlotte 49ers on Dec. 21, 2011. The Wildcats shot just 35 percent from the field and made only four of 19 3-point attempts. Leading scorer De'Mon Brooks was held to just five points, hitting only one of seven attempts in this game.

The Cardinals (27-9) did not get any huge individual performances, but really didn't need any. Peyton Siva led the Cardinals with 17 points and six assists, and the team made just one of five 3-point attempts. The difference really came at the free-throw line, where the Cardinals shot 26-of-36 and outscored the Wildcats by 10 points.

The Cardinals will now face the winner of New Mexico-Long Beach State in the Round of 32 on Saturday.
