The Gonzaga Bulldogs simply thrashed the West Virginia Mountaineers in their Round of 64 game Thursday night, winning 77-54 and scaring the heck out of anyone who picked Ohio State, the No. 2 seed in their bracket, to advance very far.
2012 NCAA Bracket, Gonzaga Vs. West Virginia Score: Zags Blow Out Mountaineers
The Zags, seeded No. 7 in the East bracket, used their quickness and defensive intensity to lock down the Mountaineers, ending the careers of first-team All-Big East player Kevin Jones and his teammate, Darryl Bryant, a.k.a. "Truck." The Bulldogs shot the absolute lights out from distance, making 9 of 17 three-pointers, and distributed the ball extremely effectively, led by their lightning-quick point guard, Kevin Pangos, who had five assists and 13 points.
Jones’ brilliant career ended with a thud instead of the bang he would have wanted, scoring just 13 points and grabbing only four rebounds. Despite superior size, the Mountaineers were outplayed down low, and with ice-cold shooting, they couldn’t keep up with the Bulldogs.
