The North Carolina Tar Heels have made it to the Sweet 16 in the 2012 NCAA Tournament, but not without suffering a big blow to their squad. Point guard Kendall Marshall suffered a broken scaphoid bone in his right wrist during UNC's third-round victory over Creighton on Sunday, which will keep him out of action for at least the next round of the tournament. Marshall had surgery on Monday to repair his wrist, but the early reports indicate the injury may be worse than anyone had feared.

On Thursday, Brett McMurphy of CBS Sports sent out the following tweet regarding North Carolina head coach Roy Williams discussing Marshall’s condition.

Keep in mind that Marshall, a natural lefty, broke his right wrist. It’s possible that he only owns a right-handed toothbrush, so if he wanted to brush with his left hand he’d have to restring the whole thing and it would just be a mess. Permit me, if you will, to reconstruct the scene that led to this sad revelation.
INT. HOTEL -- DAY
ROY WILLIAMS enters the room and is greeted by PLAYERS who are gathered around a table, playing “Uno.” Williams nods hello to them and noticed a light on in the bathroom. He walks to the open door and peers in.
INT. BATHROOM -- CONTINUOUS
KENDALL MARSHALL stands in front of the sink, looking sadly into the mirror. On the counter in front of him is a TOOTHBRUSH and a tube of TOOTHPASTE. He stares at them for a long, agonizing minute. His right arm hanging useless at his side, he makes several agonizing attempts at opening the toothpaste before laying the toothbrush on its side and punching the tube, causing toothpaste to fly towards the toothbrush.
Marshall uses the toothbrush to scoop up some of the toothpaste that is now on the sink and brings the toothbrush up towards his face. He tries bringing the brush towards his mouth, but keeps missing. At length, he opts to hold the toothbrush steady and move his mouth onto it. He succeeds only in smearing toothpaste all over his face and ears. Finally, he breaks down in tears.
Williams can’t take it any more. He enters the room, in tears himself.
WILLIAMS: There there, kid. There there.
He takes the toothbrush from Marshall’s shaking hand. The two weep softly together.
