Damaris Johnson, 2012 NFL Draft: Troubled Tulsa Receiver Enters NFL Draft

Tulsa’s Damaris Johnson, who set the NCAA record for all-purpose yards in 2010 will be entering the NFL draft after serving a suspension for the 2011 NCAA season.

Tulsa Golden Hurricane wide receiver Damaris Johnson will withdraw from school and enter the 2012 NFL Draft after missing the entire 2011 season serving a suspension. The school announced on Monday that Johnson would withdraw from school. Johnson was suspended at the beginning of the 2011 season for paying only $14 for $2,600 worth of merchandise at a store his girlfriend worked at. Johnson plead guilty to the charger and received a one-year deferred sentence.

Legal matters aside, Johnson was a very productive receiver at Tulsa. In the 2010 season, Johnson set the NCAA record for all-purpose yards with 7.796 and career kick return yards with 3,417 in three seasons at Tulsa. Johnson had 2,746 career receiving yards and 1,062 career rushing yards. The 5-foot-7 170 pound wide receiver is expected to be undrafted, but should get some looks from teams for his return ability.
