2012 NFL Combine: Riley Reiff Has Short Arms For Left Tackle

Iowa left tackle Riley Reiff is projected to be a Top 10 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, but when Reiff was measured in at the NFL Combine his arms turned out to be shorter than ideal for an NFL left tackle. Reiff came in at 6'5" and 313 pounds, but his arms measured in at 33 1/4", which is considered short for a left tackle.

Reiff isn't the first Iowa Hawkeyes left tackle to head into the draft with short arms, as his former teammate Bryan Bulaga had shorter than ideal arms when he was drafted by the Green Bay Packers. Other pro tackles such as Joe Thomas have overcome short arms and it shouldn't keep Reiff from being the second tackle drafted in April, but it is something that will make scouts raise their eyebrows.

There’s just something in the water in Iowa City guess, with Iowa players and their short arms.
