NFL Draft 2012: Janoris Jenkins On Panthers Radar

Former North Alabama and Florida Gators cornerback Janoris Jenkins is projected to be a first round pick and is one of the top prospects at his position in the 2012 NFL Draft. He only increased his stock in the draft during the 2012 NFL Combine in Indianapolis, when he put up impressive numbers and stood out from the pack.

According to Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer, Jekins was one of the big winners at the Combine this year and has definitely put himself on the radar of the Carolina Panthers, who own the No. 9 overall pick in this year's draft. Here is Person's take:

Janoris Jenkins

Position: CB

School: North Alabama

Combine notables: Jenkins was grilled about his past transgressions: two marijuana-related arrests in a four-month span that got him kicked out of Florida. But he took responsibility for his mistakes, then went out and had an outstanding combine. Jenkins ran the 40 in 4.46, and his 10-yard split was the fastest of any defensive back. Jenkins looked like the second-best corner, behind LSU's Morris Claiborne.

On the Panthers' radar? Yes. The Panthers are intrigued by Jenkins' abilities. But, like they did with Newton, will have to do a lot of background work.

If teams are hesitant to select Jenkins due to his off-the-field antics, the Panthers could stand to benefit greatly.
