The first visit of the 2012 NFL draft season will take place in Carolina. LSU defensive lineman Michael Brockers will be visiting the Panthers, according to his agent, Albert Elias. Brockers is the 15th best prospect in Mocking The Draft's rankings, which makes him a likely first round pick. The Panthers are drafting ninth overall so they could probably have Brockers if they wanted him.
2012 NFL Draft: Michael Brockers Visits Carolina Panthers
Brockers was expected to arrive in Carolina on Thursday and spend time with team officials on Friday. The last we heard on Brockers he was among those who didn’t have the best of Combines. Via Mocking The Draft:
Before he worked out, the redshirt sophomore entrant said he “can move around better than some other guys.” After a 5.36 40-yard dash and a 26.6-inch vertical, the opposite seemed to be true. Expected to be an athletic marvel, Brockers now has suspect workout numbers to go along with only average production.
The Panthers had a number of injuries at defensive tackle last season. Brockers could make for a nice combo with Charles Johnson, the Panthers defensive end who got a big extension last season.
