2012 NFL Mock Draft: Rams Go Receiver In Round 2

With the 39th pick in SB Nation's 2012 NFL draft, the St. Louis Rams select South Carolina WR Alshon Jeffery.

The Rams are in desperate need of receivers, which is why some have them taking Justin Blackmon in the first round. But the Rams wait until Round 2 in this mock draft to address their receiver concerns with the boom or bust Jeffery.

SB Nation’s Rams blog, Turf Show Times, explains the pick:

The Rams are quickly forming the all-motivation team in the second round of this draft. In reality, this has the potential to be a pick with very good value, and Jeff Fisher has been willing to take chances in the past on players with questions about character and motivation issues. Jeffery is unlike any receiver the Rams currently have on the roster. Tall and sure-handed he gives Sam Bradford a large target, someone that excels at stretching for a ball and plucking it out of the air with one hand.
