2012 NFL Mock Draft: LaMichael James Adds Explosiveness To Eagles Offense

Last offseason, when the Eagles were signing everyone, one of the guys they went after but struck out on was Darren Sproles. Andy Reid has always loved his all-purpose, pass-catching scat backs that he can use to do pretty much anything in his offense. Now, Andy has another shot to get his Sproles. LaMichael James is the same kind of small, but speedy and shifty dual threat that Sproles would have been in the Eagles’ offense.

And with LeSean McCoy likely on the verge of a huge new contract after he emerged as a top 3-5 back in the NFL last season, the need to get a backup to spell and protect him has increased. McCoy had more than 300 touches last season in part because he was so productive with them, but also because no viable backup emerged. James would give the Eagles a great compliment to McCoy and create arguably the shiftiest and hardest to corral backfield in the NFL with Michael Vick.
