The Detroit Lions are picking 23rd in the 2012 NFL draft which starts on Thursday night. The Lions can go in a number of directions but cornerback seems to be among the most popular picks. SB Nation’s Lions blog, Pride of Detroit, addressed the Lions needs entering the start of the draft on Thursday.
Lions NFL Draft Needs: Depth At Offensive Tackle Would Help

The Detroit Lions are in the strange position of not having many needs for a change. 21 of the Lions' 22 starters from last season are expected to return (cornerback Eric Wright, who signed with the Buccaneers, is the only one who has departed this offseason), and in general there is quite a bit of talent on the team. Of course, needs do still exist, namely for depth on the offensive line and in the secondary at cornerback and safety. The Lions need to plan for life without linemen like Jeff Backus and Dominic Raiola, who are getting up there in age, and they need to add more talent at cornerback and safety in order to improve a pass defense that struggled mightily down the stretch last season.
