2012 NFL Draft: Jamaar Jarrett Fails Combine Drug Test

Arizona State terror merchant Vontaze Burfict wasn’t the only Sun Devil whose positive drug test at the 2012 NFL Draft Combine was revealed on the eve of the 2012 NFL Draft: so did Jamaar Jarrett, a defensive end, according to Rob Rang of CBS Sports.

Jarrett was not regarded as a blue-chip prospect by any means; he doesn’t make the cut in Mocking the Draft’s listing of the top 100 players in the 2012 NFL Draft, and is also not in their ranking of the best available defensive ends, so he probably didn’t lose millions of dollars based on his drug use prior to the Combine.

But for players like Jarrett, coming in with a slate clear of any character marks might be the key to getting drafted. A red flag like a failed drug test — which evinces a lack of the discipline required to keep a nose clean, if nothing else — can be the difference between being invited to a training camp and scrambling to make a practice squad.
