The Minnesota Vikings have traded back into the first round of the 2012 NFL draft. The Vikings, who owned the third overall pick before trading it to the Cleveland Browns, sent the 35th and 89th overall picks to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for the 29th pick. The Vikings will select Notre Dame SS Harrison Smith with that pick.
Vikings-Ravens Trade: Minnesota Moves Back Into Round 1
This is a logical pick considering the secondary was one of the Vikings’ biggest needs. Many people connected them to CB Morris Claiborne with the third overall pick but they opted to trade down and select Matt Kalil instead.
The Vikings can afford to be more aggressive thanks to their initial trade with the Browns, which netted them an extra fourth, fifth and seven round pick.
