Former Clemson Tigers defensive end Andre Branch was selected in the 2012 NFL draft on Friday by the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars selected Branch in the 2nd round with the No. 38 overall pick. Branch was considered by many to be the No. 3 defensive end in the draft.

The Jaguars make this pick after selecting Oklahoma State WR Justin Blackmon in the first round.

Here is what Mocking the Draft has to say about Branch:

Final word: Branch was the leader of a talented Clemson defense in 2011. He’s one of the better speed rushers in this year’s draft, but doesn’t offer a lot as a power rusher. Because of that, he’ll need to be put in the right scheme that can take advantage of his abilities. He should be able to transition nicely to linebacker because of his range. Branch played the Bandit position at Clemson, which asked him to play with his hand down and in the two-point stance.

In the first round, Jacksonville selected WR Justin Blackmon with the No. 5 pick.
