Redskins Free Agency 2012: London Fletcher’s Future Unclear

2012 free agency starts soon but that's not the exciting news in Washington DC. The team knows where they'll be getting their new franchise quarterback from. By trading up, the Redskins are expected to get Robert Griffin III, the Heisman Trophy winning quarterback out of Baylor. However, since they gave up so many picks to move up, they'll have to do some work in free agency to compete in the NFC East.

The most important free agent for the Redskins to re-sign is probably linebacker London Fletcher, who led the league in tackles in 2011 despite the fact that he's 36 years old. According to team sources, the Redskins have talked with Fletcher and his agent, but no deal has been struck as of yet. Other players set to leave are safety LaRon Landry and running back Tim Hightower.

The team needs to re-sign Fletcher, but if they're unable to, signing a guy like Curtin Lofton or David Hawthorne could be effective replacements. It would also be wise to find some suitable wide receivers for RG3 to target in his rookie year and luckily for the Redskins, there's not shortage on free agent receivers. Vincent Jackson, Brandon Lloyd and Reggie Wayne could all be available and any of them could be a top target for a young quarterback.
