Mario Williams’ Free Agency Tour Starts With Buffalo Bills

Mario Williams' free agency odyssey will begin with the Buffalo Bills, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Williams is coming off a second straight season that was ended by a trip to the injured reserve, this time with a pectoral muscle tear that limited him to five games, but he is still likely to be one of the top free agents on the market.

The Bills could likely afford to pay Williams a fair amount of money, as they are expected to have plenty of salary cap space. Visiting a team like Buffalo, coming off a 6-10 season in which they allowed more points than all but two teams, could be seen as a way of establishing a market for his services. Williams is also expected to visit the Chicago Bears, who are believed to be the front-runners for his services.

That the Bills would be interested, though, should not surprising. Williams has averaged about .65 sacks per game over the course of his six-year career, which translates to more than 10 sacks in a 16-game season. The Bills were tied for 27th in the NFL with just 29 sacks last season.
