Bills Plan Big Offer For Mario Williams; Robert Meachem Visits Too

When I first heard the news that free agent Mario Williams would be visiting the Buffalo Bills, I thought it was just be the first stop of many planned visits. Apparently, the Bills are hoping he doesn't even leave Buffalo. The Buffalo News reported the Bills planned to make Williams the highest paid defensive player in the game and WGR 550 reports the Bills fully expect to sign him in the next 24 hours.

That would be enough to get him to stick around in Buffalo.

Williams is the No. 1 free agent on the market this year and it would be a major coup if Buffalo could sign him. They were intent on fixing the pass rush and GM Buddy Nix indicated earlier this week that Buffalo would make a big splash early in free agency and then start to bow out. Williams would certainly qualify as a big splash.

The Bills are also hoping to sign WR Robert Meachem, who is visiting the team as well.

For more on Williams and Meachem potentially signing with the Bills, check out Buffalo Rumblings.
