Free Agent Mario Williams Has Another Visit After Bills

On Tuesday night there were reports out of Buffalo that the Bills planned to make free agent Mario Williams the highest paid defensive player in NFL history and that they were confident they would be able to sign him.

They may end up signing him, but it sounds like Williams will be shopping around a little more. NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora reports Williams, who arrived in Buffalo on Tuesday, will take his time with the visit.

He also has another visit scheduled. The identity of the team is unknown.

The “one other visit scheduled” report could be a negotiating ploy from Williams’ camp. The Bills brass does not want him boarding a plane and visiting another team. Thus, saying other visits are scheduled could be a way to entice the Bills to up the ante on their contract offer.

The Bills said earlier in the week that they planned to make a “big splash” early in free agency and then get out. Signing Williams within 48 hours of free agency counts as a big splash.
