Bills Plan To Make Mario Williams Highest-Paid Defensive Player In NFL

The Buffalo Bills aren't messing around in free agency. After GM Buddy Nix said the team would make a big splash and then back out of free agency, the Bills brought in DE Mario Williams, the No. 1 free agent, for a visit. He's been in Buffalo the last two days and he's about to become a richer man. Whether that money is coming from Buffalo remains to be the seen but it's clear the market for Williams is astronomical.

According to a report from the Buffalo News, the Bills' offer to Williams would make him the highest-paid defensive player in the game, which means it would eclipse the six-year, $91.5 million deal Julius Peppers signed with the Chicago Bears.

Williams is obviously a major talent playing a premium position in his prime. The cards are all set for him to set an NFL record during this free agency period.

Williams’ decision, whether it’s Buffalo or another visit, should be coming soon.
