Brandon Meriweather, Redskins Agree To 2-Year Contract

The Washington Redskins have made another move in free agency, but this time it's not a receiver. According to NFL Network, free agent S Brandon Meriweather has agreed to terms with the Redskins.

Meriweather is a safety who was originally picked up by the New England Patriots in the first round of the 2007 NFL draft. He spent his first four seasons in New England before the Patriots cut him prior to the 2011 season. He played for the Chicago Bears last season, appearing in 11 games.

The Redskins are likely losing S LaRon Landry in free agency, which opened a need at the position. Meriweather is probably a little overhyped as a player but a two-year, $6 million contract is a decent deal for both sides.

The Redskins made a splash on the first day of free agency picking up receivers Pierre Garcon and Josh Morgan, who will soon be catching passes from Robert Griffin III.
