LaRon Landry, Jets Agree To 1-Year Deal

LaRon Landry will join the New York Jets on a one-year contract, according to Michael Lombardi of the NFL Network. The veteran safety could be a major asset to Rex Ryan's secondary, though that's assuming he can stay healthy. Landry has started just 17 games combined over the last two seasons.

Landry also drew interest from the New England Patriots before settling on with their rivals in New York. The Jets needed safety help, either through free agency or the 2012 NFL Draft, considering Jim Leonhard's knee problems. Landry spent the last five seasons with the Washington Redskins, building a reputation as a big hitter and a workout warrior.

Landry played in just eight games in his most recent season due to groin and Achilles’ injuries, recording 48 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He failed to get his hands on an interception.
