SB Nation’s Pats Pulpit called it when they wrote that the workout “could turn out to be nothing more than Belichickian due diligence.”
Teams often work players out to get a gauge of where they stand physically in case of injuries to other players currently on the roster. That’s likely the situation with Burress, who remains without a team for the 2012 season. Burress, 35, was somewhat productive last season with 45 receptions for 612 yards and eight touchdowns.

Burress has expressed interest in joining the Eagles before, saying “nothing else would make me happier.” He will turn 35 before the season, though at 6-foot, 5-inches, 232 pounds he still holds plenty of value as a red zone threat.
