Peyton Manning ‘Prefers’ An AFC Team But Open To NFC, Too

Shortly after Peyton Manning was officially released by the Indianapolis Colts, former NFL player Marshall Faulk said on NFL Network that Manning likely doesn't want to play in the NFC because that would prevent a potential Peyton vs. Eli Super Bowl. Faulk played with Manning in Indy and has ties to his father, Archie, so the report is noteworthy.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter, however, reports that Manning “prefers” to play in the AFC but is open to an NFC team.

The Cardinals and Seahawks are two NFC teams that are reportedly interested in Manning. The Redskins are another NFC team but they're in the same division as Eli Manning and the Giants.

If this means the AFC teams have a leg up on the former Colts QB, then that's good news for the Dolphins, who are among the supposed front-runners in the Manning sweepstakes.

At least 12 teams have reportedly reached out to Manning within the first 24 hours of his free agency. He’s expected to set up visits with a few select teams, though it’s not known who those teams are yet.
