Peyton Manning To Redskins Is Unlikely, According To Report

The Washington Redskins have been viewed as one of the potential destinations for Peyton Manning now that he's a free agent, but a report out of D.C. suggests that's unlikely to happen. Chris Russell of ESPN 980 spoke on SportsCenter on Thursday and citing sources said Manning's camp has made it clear that he doesn't want to play for the Redskins.

Via PFT:

“A couple of different sources inside the organization have told me that Manning’s camp made it pretty clear to Redskins officials he doesn’t want to come here,” said Russell. “... There’s lots of reasons for that. His brother Eli, the colder weather, the whole situation down in Miami and so on and so forth. But unless that changes - and I’m taking my sources at their word - I don’t think Manning’s coming here to D.C.”

The Eli factor has been one of the main reasons I’ve been sliding the Redskins down my list. Bill Polian said on a radio show recently that the hype of playing Eli wore on Peyton whenever the brothers played against each other. A move to Washington would mean meeting Eli at least twice a year.

A big offer from the Redskins could change a lot of things but, for now, it doesn’t appear the Redskins are among the front-runners like we once thought they were.

Stay tuned to Hogs Haven and SB Nation DC for the response to this report from Redskins fans.
