Rob Gronkowski Injury: Patriots TE Will Play In Super Bowl Vs. Giants

The New England Patriots are headed to Super Bowl XLVI in two weeks and it seems like they will not be down a tight end when they arrive in Indianapolis.

One of the key offensive weapons throughout the season for the Pats was TE Rob Gronkowski, who left the field with an ankle injury that looked especially nasty on replays, but returned to play a short time later in Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Baltimore Ravens.

According to the Boston Herald, a source says that Gronkowski will be ready to play in the Super Bowl against the New York Giants.

The source with direct knowledge of Gronkowski’s condition said simply, “He’ll be ready to go.”

That surely allows Patriots fans, coaches and players a sigh of relief. Gronkowski described his ankle as “fine” in the locker room after the game, but he didn’t go into detail. In fact, the precise injury is not clear. But the source believed - as of this morning - that it is clear Gronk will play.

Certainly good news for Patriots fans. If the injury is indeed nothing serious, good news for Gronkowski as well.

Here's a look at the complete NFL playoffs bracket. For more on the Patriots and their Super Bowl run, check out SB Nation's Patriots blog, Pats Pulpit as well as SB Nation Boston. For more on the Giants and their Super Bowl appearance, visit Giants blog Big Blue View and SB Nation New York.
