Rob Gronkowski’s Injury Is High Ankle Sprain; Patriots TE Misses Another Practice

On Wednesday and Thursday the New England Patriots listed over a dozen players on their Super Bowl injury report but only one of those listed, Rob Gronkowski, actually missed practice. The rest were limited or full participants in practice.

On Friday, Gronkowski once again missed practice and he was the only Patriots player not out there.

Gronkowski has an ankle injury and his father recently told WIVB in New York that the injury is a high ankle sprain. That’s one of those nagging injuries that aren’t overly serious long-term but they do take some time to heal. It’s good for the Patriots that the injury came at a time when the team was entering a two-week break.

You can bet Bill Belichick won’t be too happy that the news of Gronkowski’s specific injury got out. He and the rest of the Patriots players have been mum on the status of Gronkowski, who hasn’t practiced at all this week.

But there’s no reason to think Gronkowski won’t be out there. His father said that to WIVB and it’s previously been reported that he’s expected to play. He just may not be 100 percent.
