Super Bowl 2012: Rob Gronkowski ‘Moving In The Right Direction’

For New England Patriots fans who were getting concerned about the status of star tight end Rob Gronkowski, there was a bit of good news on Thursday, as Gronkowski participated in team practice for the first time since injuring his ankle in the AFC Championship Game.

Both the Patriots and their fans are hoping that Gronkowski will be able to play in Super Bowl XLVI on Sunday against the New York Giants. Pats head coach Bill Belichick addressed the media on Friday and had some comments regarding the tight end, according to Kirk Minihane of WEEI in Boston.

“I think he was OK this morning, I think he was OK,” Belichick said. “We’ll see how it goes today. Rob has worked extremely hard and has got treatment morning, noon and night. He’s gotten better on a daily basis. Hopefully he’ll continue to make progress today, tomorrow and all day Sunday. We’ll see how that takes us, but I think he’s coming along and we’ll see where he gets to. But certainly moving in the right direction and getting better on a daily basis.”

Gronkowski, who is one of the favorite targets of quarterback Tom Brady, was a big part of New England's run to the Super Bowl in 2011. He has repeatedly stated that he will do everything in his power to be able to play in the Super Bowl.
