The Detroit Tigers have been considered the favorites in the AL Central. Victor Martinez just got hurt. He will probably miss the entire season. His injury has opened the door a little wider for other contenders. Other contenders, including the Cleveland Indians. The Indians were planning to lean on Fausto Carmona as part of their starting rotation. Well now Fausto Carmona has apparently been arrested in the Dominican Republic. Good times!

From Maximo Baez Aybar, translated:

Carmona, whose real name is Roberto Hernandez Heredia, was arrested after leaving the American consulate, where he requested visa renewal

This arrest is part of the measures taken by the National Police, in coordination with the American Consulate.

Maximo Baez Aybar is a PR official with the police department. He tweeted this photo of Carmona/Heredia:

We'll see where things go from here. This is not, of course, the first identity scandal in recent memory, as Marlins closer Leo Nunez was found out to be Juan Carlos Oviedo. Oviedo has not yet returned to the United States, although he has agreed to a 2012 contract with the team.
