Tailgate Judgment: Tell us what you ate and/or drank during game day

Did you eat or drink things while watching football this weekend? Do you crave judgment? If your answer to both questions is “yes,” pull up a chair. Leave a comment describing your food and drink, and Jon Bois will rate it from 1 to 10.

US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Doctors recommend that Americans eat at least one meal per week. During the college and NFL seasons, football fans commonly eat this meal on game day. Perhaps you ate while tailgating in the stadium parking lot. Maybe you ate at a bar or a friend’s house.

Monday morning, you may be thinking to yourself, “why the Hell did I do that?” Here is why: so that I can judge what you ate and/or drank. In the comments, tell me about your barbecue, your carefully-crafted appetizers, your IPAs, your cocktails, your sad-ass Subway lunch. I will then, time permitting, rate your lunch on a scale of 1 to 10, and explain what I like and don’t like about it.

I aim to be tough, but fair. I am not out to hurt any feelings. Neither am I out to lie to you and enable your crummy lunching habits. Be ready.

In the interest of transparency, I will start. I patronized the BBC, a local brewing establishment, and ate a brisket sandwich with smoked gouda, bacon jam, vegetables, and a side of garlic fries. This was certainly a strong 8 out of 10. I also drank a few of the brewery’s Altbier, a tasty, low-ABV beer that I could drink without getting completely hammered by 3:30. It served its purpose well, and I will award it a 7.5 out of 10.

Let’s see how many of you can do better. Your turn, friend. What did you have to eat and/or drink this weekend?
