Marshawn Lynch injury: Seahawks RB limited in practice

The Seahawks running back is still hampered by a lingering back injury, but all signs point to the NFL’s third leading rusher suiting up against New England.

Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch was limited during Wednesday's practice session due to a back injury, according to ESPN 710 reporter Liz Mathews.

The back injury has been listed in prior weeks but has not kept him from producing on the field through the first five weeks of the season.

In a Week 5 win against the Carolina Panthers, Lynch struggled to find running room as he totaled 85 yards on 21 carries, adding a 9-yard catch. The former California Golden Bear and Oakland, Calif. native has run effectively, and is third in the NFL in rushing yards through Week 5.

Lynch has been a workhorse for the Seahawks in 2012, carrying the ball 113 times for 508 yards and two rushing touchdowns, good for a 4.5 yards-per-carry average. He’s also added eight catches for 59 yards via the team’s passing attack.

He will face a worthy test against the No. 8-ranked run defense of the New England Patriots should he be available to play in Week 6. All indications at this point are that he will suit up, since he has yet to miss a game in 2012.
