The opening round of the 2012 Frys.com Open is underway from CordeValle Golf Club in San Martin, Calif., and in the early stages, Venezuelan pro Jhonattan Vegas has taken the lead on Thursday.

Vegas currently finds himself 4-under for the day after five holes played, carding a birdie on the first hole and three in a row on holes 3-5. D.J. Trahan isn’t far behind, at 3-under through his first eight holes of the day, while Martin Flores, Charles Howell III, Boo Weekley and David Mathis are all tied for third place at 2-under for the tournament.
Much of the field is yet to tee off on Thursday, including the likes of Rocco Mediate and Stuart Appleby, who go at 3:10 p.m. ET, and Angel Cabrera and Gary Woodland begin at 3:20 p.m. ET. Len Mattiace did not make his start this morning.
