Yankees fans react to frustrating Game 4 loss

The New York Yankees’ high-powered offense has been anything but in their Division Series matchup with the Orioles. But for a single five-run frame in the ninth inning of Game 1, the Bronx Bombers have failed to live up to their high-scoring reputation, scoring just six runs in the team’s last 24 innings.

Game 4 continued the trend of anemic offensive output for the Yankees, as the squad was held to just a single run in 13 innings by Joe Saunders and a bevy of Baltimore bullpen arms. For Andrew Mearns of Pinstriped Bible, the offense’s disappearing act in the playoffs has been more than just a little disconcerting:

Woof.

Sometimes, that's all one can say about a game. Tonight fit that word perfectly as the New York Yankees wasted a spectacular pitching performance by Phil Hughes and His Bullpen Band in a 13-inning, 2-1 loss to the Baltimore Orioles

Offense. The Yankees are supposed to be good at it. However, the hitters have accumulated a grand total of one multi-run inning out of 43 in the series so far…

As it stands [now], this Yankees team looks very beatable with so many of its key hitters falling into horrible slumps at an awful time.

The Yankees' bats will have to come alive against Jason Hammel in Game 5 if they want to take on the Detroit Tigers in the ALCS. Hammel held New York to just two runs on four hits in 5⅔ innings of work in Game 1.

Game time is set for 5 p.m. Eastern. The game will be broadcast on TBS.
