Texas A&M vs Louisiana Tech results: Aggies survive late game comeback, 59-57

The Texas A&M Aggies were sitting comfortable ahead after the first half. Maybe they were a little too comfortable as LA Tech made an incredible comeback. Luckily for A&M, the Bulldogs would fall short, 59-57.

In a game that was re-scheduled because of Hurricane Isaac, the No. 22 Texas A&M Aggies and the No. 23 Louisiana Tech Bulldogs made up the lost time by scoring enough to fill two football game. In a thrilling offense-heavy game, LA Tech would not lay down to the Aggies. Despite incredible late game heroics by the Bulldogs, they would come up short in their first loss of the season. Texas A&M takes a close one, 59-57.

In the first half, it was all Texas A&M. The Aggies took a healthy lead of 39-16 into the locker room. Whatever LA Tech head coach Sunny Dykes said to his team at halftime would send them on a tear to catch up to A&M.

Bookending an A&M touchdown by quarterback Johnny Manziel, LA Tech quarterback Colby Cameron and wide receiver Quinton Patton hooked up twice in the third quarter. LA Tech was now within 16 of A&M.

The fourth quarter was wild. To open the final frame, the Bulldogs scored two touchdowns, one on a Kenneth Dixon rush and a second via pick-six. With LA Tech closing in, Texas A&M answered LA Tech's two touchdowns with two of their own. Shortly after the two-minute warning, Cameron and Patton teamed up again for another LA Tech touchdown.

After a successful onside kick, and an unsuccessful challenge by A&M, Bulldog quarterback completed a 13-yard pass to Ray Holley for a touchdown with 38 seconds left. The score at 59-57 in favor of the Aggies, forced LA Tech to go for two. The pass by quarterback Cameron was unsuccessful.

Never giving up, LA Tech tried another onside kick, but A&M was ready for it. The Aggies would recover the ball and win the game 59-57.

Box Score Hero: LA Tech quarterback Colby Cameron was a beast. He was 44-of-58 for 449 yards, five touchdowns and zero interceptions. He ended up third on the team in rushing with 9 carries for 26 yards.

Rankings Ramifications: The two teams are neighbors in the rankings with Texas A&M at 22 and LA Tech at 23. They just might stay where they’re at or move up (or down) a couple places.

But Did They Cover? Texas A&M was favored by 8 going in. Thanks to a late game touchdown by LA Tech, they did not cover.

Next Week's Schedule: The Aggies welcome more boys from the bayou, when LSU comes to town. LA Tech head home to face the Idaho Vandals.
