Massachusetts is losing 7-0 to Bowling Green at the half. That’s not a story. What makes this a story is a freshman cornerback tweeting during halftime.
UMass CB D’Metrius Williams tweets during halftime
Someone should probably take Mr. Williams’ phone away.
D'Metrius Williams had a solid first half, and usually you get jacked up in the locker room, visualize plays, listen to music, talk with your position coach, stretch, get taped up, have some refreshing water or Gatorade, or even close your eyes for a minute or two. Williams, instead, took to Twitter.
After taking the time to retweet a bunch of praise for his play in the first half, he had this to say:
IM OUT HERE BALLIN' .. 2nd half bouta qet started time too qet mo' money 👍👌👌

In Thursday night’s Parks and Recreation episode, Tom Haverford was sentenced to one week without screens after crashing his car because he was too busy tweeting. Maybe a similar punishment will be in order for Williams after his coach finds out. Or maybe D’Metrius is a trendsetter, and we’ll see all kinds of players tweeting during halftime or in the middle of games. We can only hope.
