Tigers’ lineup stands pat for Game 2

Manager Jim Leyland of the Detroit Tigers has unfurled his standard against-lefties lineup to face the San Francisco Giants in Game 2 of the World Series (* indicates lefthanded hitter):

1. Austin Jackson, CF
2. Omar Infante, 2B
3. Miguel Cabrera, 3B
4. Prince Fielder*, 1B
5. Delmon Young, LF
6. Jhonny Peralta, SS
7. Avisail Garcia, RF
8. Gerald Laird, C
9. Doug Fister*, P

Just two lefthanded hitters are in this lineup; oddly, one of them is Fister, who throws righthanded. Fister is 2-for-10 in his career as a hitter with one double and one sacrifice bunt. This lineup will be facing Giants lefthander Madison Bumgarner, who faced the Tigers in interleague play July 1, 2011 in Detroit. He threw seven innings, allowing five hits and one run, and struck out nine. Members of the Tigers' postseason roster are a small-sample-size 9-for-26 (.346) against Bumgarner, but with no extra-base hits.
