Marlins interview Larry Bowa, according to report

The Miami Marlins have reportedly interviewed former Philadelphia Phillies manager Larry Bowa. Bowa won Manager of the Year with the Phillies in 2001, but was fired in 2004.

The Miami Marlins have interviewed Larry Bowa in their search for a new manager, reports Ken Rosenthal. Bowa has been out of coaching since 2010, with his most recent position being third base coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Bowa has two prior stints as a major-league manager, the first with the San Diego Padres from 1987 to 1988, and the Philadelphia Phillies from 2001 to 2004. He won Manager of the Year in 2001, taking the Phillies from finishing in last place to within two games of the division title. His career managing record is 418-435.

In addition to managing and his time with the Dodgers, he has worked as a coach for the Phillies, the Los Angeles Angels, Seattle Mariners, and theNew York Yankees. In his playing days the former shortstop played for the Phillies, Chicago Cubs and New York Mets, making the All-Star game every year from 1974 to 1979 and winning the World Series with the Phillies in 1980.
