Peyton Manning has always been impressive in Sunday night nationally televised games, and Sunday night against the New Orleans Saints was no exception. Manning completed 22 of 30 passes for 305 yards and three touchdowns as he won the showdown against Drew Brees in Denver 34-14.
Saints vs. Broncos, Week 8: Manning dominant on Sunday night
Peyton Manning continues to own Sunday night games.
It was the first time Manning had faced Brees since they battled in Super Bowl XLIV in Miami after the 2009 season. This time, it was Manning who got the upper hand. He threw two touchdown passes to Eric Decker and one to Demaryius Thomas, who caught seven passes for 137 yards.
As the Mile High Report states, the game was won defensively as they made Brees struggle all night long. Brees was just 22 of 42 for 213 yards and two touchdown. He did, however, throw a touchdown pass in his 50th consecutive game:
The Broncos made this a blowout. The story of the game was third down. The Saints were 1-12 on third downs tonight.
Manning was also helped by a huge night from Willis McGahee, who rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown.
