2012 postseason popular on TV, social media

Fox-TV’s ratings were strong, at least for Game 4.

Despite the one-sided nature of the 2012 World Series, which resulted in three non-competitive games and a San Francisco Giants sweep, a lot of people watched Game 4 on television:

Here’s how that number translates into ratings:

FOX averaged an estimated 19.16 million viewers to go with a 10.9 rating/16 share for Sunday night, with NBC’s 7.9/12 and 13.16 million viewers taking second. There was a big drop to CBS’ 9.95 million viewers and 6.4/9 and then to ABC’s 4.4/7 and 7.25 million viewers. The estimate above includes the overrun past 7 p.m. ET of the Giants/Cowboys NFL game, which could account for the discrepancy between that number and the one from MLBPR.

The postseason broke records on Facebook and Twitter, too:

Just imagine that number if the World Series had gone seven games. Maybe next year.
