Packers Vs. Colts, Week 5: Colts Win One For Chuck

Brad Wells of Stampede Blue reminds us that Sunday’s win was for ailing coach Chuck Pagano.

The Indianapolis Colts were playing for an ailing coach in a virtual road game at home due to the number of Packers fans that descended on Lucas Oil Stadium. There was some magic in the air, however, as they recovered for a 30-27 win in their first game since learning head coach Chuck Pagano had a treatable form of leukemia.

As Brad Wells of Stampede blue explains, this one was for Chuck:

Wayne, the veteran on a young team, has been great all year, but today, he had one of the greatest performances by a Colt ever. Reggie, who not only calls Pagano a coach but a good friend, truly was #ChuckStrong today. He caught 13 passes (his career high is 14) for 212 yards (a career high) and the game winning touchdown. All day, he was there for Luck. It was the greatest receiving performance a Colt has ever had, and I truly believe that, especially when you consider the circumstances.

Reggie Wayne has quickly become a mentor and elder statesman for this young team. He was already beloved in the city of Indianapolis, who seamlessly transitioned the REG-GIE chant a few blocks down from Bankers Life Fieldhouse to Lucas Oil Stadium from Reggie Miller. He has now made himself a case for inclusion into the Colts' Ring of Honor as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
