Conflicting reports regarding Boo Corrigan as Boston College’s new AD

It was reported earlier that Boo Corrigan would be named the new Boston College Athletics Director, but conflicting reports have now emerged.

Boston College will hire a new Director of Athletics on Tuesday, but it may not be who we first thought. Chris Curtis of 98.5 The Sports Hub originally reported that the school would hire Army athletics director Boo Corrigan, but former Boston Globe reporter Mark Blaudschun wrote on his blog, AJerseyGuy.com, that the school might consider hiring former Boston College football player and FBI agent Quentin Williams.

The search for a new Director of Athletics for Boston College will come to an end on Tuesday when a replacement is named for Gene DeFilippo who retired on Sept. 30th.

And while the perceived front-runners were thought to be Army athletic director Boo Corrigan and Xavier AD Mike Bobinski, sources familiar with the process say that BC officials have gone outside of the box and could introduce a former BC football player, justice department official and FBI agent named Quentin Williams.

According to Blaudschun, Boston College may have been swayed by a glowing referral from former Eagles head coach and current New York Giants head man Tom Coughlin.

Williams was mentioned in the first group of possible candidates, but faded from view. But according to sources, former BC coach and current New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin gave a strong endorsement for Williams, which swayed BC officials, including BC President Father William Leahy.

Boston College has scheduled a press conference for 1:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday and is expected to announce the hiring of a new Athletics Director.
