No. 24 Cincinnati vs. UT-Martin final score: Bearcats win 80-57

No. 24 Cincinnati started their 2012-2013 season with a 80-57 victory over the Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks on Sunday. Cashmere Wright led the Bearcats with 16 points and 11 different Cincinnati players scored in the game.

The No. 24 Cincinnati Bearcats got their season off to a winning start after an 80-57 victory over the Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks on Sunday at Fifth Third Arena.

The Bearcats ran away with the game in the first half, holding a 43-17 advantage at the break, and never looked back. Eleven different players for Cincinnati scored in the game. Cincinnati as a team swatted 11 shots by the Skyhawks and held Tennessee-Martin to 28.4 percent shooting on the afternoon.

Cashmere Wright led the Bearcats in scoring with 16 points. Justin Jackson led the team with 11 rebounds. Junior-college transfer Titus Rubles made his Cincinnati debut and contributed eight points and seven rebounds off the bench in 16 minutes. Jeremy Washington led the Skyhawks with 15 points. Three other players scored in double figures for Tennessee-Martin.

The game against the Skyhawks was the first of four against unranked opponents at home for the Bearcats. Cincinnati’s next opponent is Mississippi Valley State on Tuesday at Fifth Third Arena at 7 p.m.
