The No. 17 Memphis Tigers picked up a win in their season opener Monday, defeating North Florida, 81-66, at the FedEx Forum.

The 17th-ranked Memphis Tigers won their season opener Monday.


Junior forward Tarik Black led the Tigers, compiling 18 points, seven rebounds and one assist. Joe Jackson contributed 14 points, six rebounds and six assists, and he connected on two of his four three-point attempts. Antonio Barton added 11 points, four rebounds and four assists.
Jerron Granberry led the way for North Florida (1-1) with 17 points, connecting on three of his three-pointers and grabbing three rebounds and an assist. Parker Smith scored 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting from behind the arc, and Charles McRoy scored 10 points and hit two threes.
Memphis jumped out to a 22-point halftime lead, but the Ospreys fought back in the second half to make the score a bit more respectable.
The Tigers next play Saturday, Nov. 17 against Samford at the FedEx Forum. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. ET.
