Ben Roethlisberger injury: QB reportedly suffered separated shoulder

The Steelers beat the Chiefs in overtime Monday night, but the focus after the game is on Ben Roethlisberger and his right shoulder (and rightfully so; did you see that game?). Roethlisberger, who was seen being transported from the stadium to the hospital for an MRI, may have a separated shoulder, according to Yahoo! Sports Jason Cole.

“There’s a lot to be figured out and we probably won’t know anything definitive until the morning, but that’s what the [Steelers] team doctor said,” a source said.

The original diagnosis was that Roethlisberger’s shoulder was sprained, but that a more definitive answer would be known after the MRI was read, which would likely come on Tuesday, per Jason La Canfora.

As Albert Breer points out, it’s important to remember that the “sprain” technically is a slight separation of the shoulder. Now it’s just a matter of how badly it may be separated.

The Steelers host the Ravens Nov. 18, travel to Cleveland the following week and then are at Baltimore on Dec. 2.
