D’Angelo Harrison leads St. John’s over College of Charleston, 64-53

St. Johns defeated College of Charleston on Thursday to advance to the semis of The Charleston Classic.

St. John’s got out to a quick start and ran away from College of Charleston on Thursday, claiming a 64-53 win. The Johnnies opened up a ten-point lead at halftime and extended the lead to 20 points within six minutes of the second half getting underway. They led comfortably throughout the second half, as the Cougars never got within single digits in the game’s final 20 minutes.

D'Angelo Harrison led the way for St. John's with 21 points and four rebounds. He struggled from behind the 3-point arc, making just 1 of 7 attempts. Amir Garrett shot very well from the floor, making 5 of 7 attempts, including his only try from behind the 3-point arc. He finished with 11 points and chipped in with four rebounds.

Trent Wiedeman led the way for the Cougars, scoring ten points and adding five rebounds. Anthony Thomas added seven points and grabbed 11 rebounds in a losing effort.

With the win, St. John’s improves to 2-0 on the season. The Red Storm will face the winner of Thursday night’s game between Murray State and Auburn, which can be seen at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN3. That semifinal will tip off on Friday at 5:30 p.m. ET and will also be shown on ESPN3.

The Cougars drop to 1-1 on the season and will face the loser of Murray State/Auburn. That consolation game will take place on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be available on ESPN3.
