Cardinals vs. Falcons game recap: Atlanta recovers from early deficit, wins 23-19

The Atlanta Falcons improved to 9-1 and a perfect 5-0 at home with a 23-19 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.

Despite five interceptions from quarterback Matt Ryan, the Atlanta Falcons were able to erase a first quarter deficit to defeat the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday by a final score of 23-19.

The Cardinals jumped out to a 13-0 lead thanks to a trio of interceptions by Ryan in the first quarter alone and a 40-yard run by LaRod Stephens-Howling that set up a field goal.

But the Falcons slowly clawed their way back, tying things up at 16 apiece heading into halftime before taking the lead for good on a one yard touchdown by Michael Turner in the fourth quarter.

The Falcons now sit at 9-1 on the season, while the Cardinals fall to 4-6, losers of six straight games.

Fantasy studs and duds

Arizona running back LaRod Stephens-Howling put together a nice game out of the backfield, accumulating 133 yards of total offense and a touchdown.

Atlanta wide receiver Roddy White put up some big numbers as well, with eight receptions for 123 yards.

White’s quarterback, however, was less than stellar. Despite throwing for 301 yards, Ryan’s fantasy numbers took a major hit with five intereceptions.

Even worse was Arizona's passing attack, as Ryan Lindley and John Skelton combined for 70 yards on the day.

Did they cover?

The Falcons entered the game as 9.5 point home favorites against the slumping Cardinals, and didn’t cover the spread in their 23-19 win.

What’s next?

The Falcons will look to pick up their tenth win next Sunday in a matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while the Cardinals will take on the St. Louis Rams.
