Minnesota Timberwolves guard Brandon Roy will be out for "a couple of weeks" after he has knee surgery this week, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski. Roy is set to undergo a procedure on his right knee at some point during the week, though the exact timetable has yet to be announced.

Roy, who briefly retired from the NBA in 2011 following various knee troubles, has had issues with that knee this season. He bruised the knee in the preseason and then banged it twice more this season, most recently on Nov. 9 against the Indiana Pacers. He has not made an appearance since that game.
Roy is averaging 5.8 points, 4.6 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game, though he has had trouble finding his shooting stroke. The Wolves have got out to a surprisingly hot start so far this season, considering that they are already missing stars Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio, but the injury to Roy will stretch their depth even more.
