Hector Camacho, a former boxing champion at three different weights, is on life support after sustaining gunshot wounds to the face on Tuesday. His family is soon expected to make a decision whether to keep him on the device.

Former boxer Hector Camacho’s condition has worsened after he was shot in the face on Tuesday.

Camacho’s prognosis turned for the worse overnight, as he was previously expected to pull through and survive the injuries. Doctors in Centro Medico Trauma Center are working to steady Camacho, but have warned that his brain activity has been “irregular and intermittent.”
The life-threatening incident occurred Tuesday night as Camacho and a friend sat in a car outside of a bar in Bayemon, Puerto Rico. Police found 10 bags of cocaine on the friend and inside the car.
The boxer held championship belts at four different times from 1983 to 1992. His first came in the Super Featherweight division. He followed that up with titles in the Lightweight division, and the Light Welterweight class.
