Thanksgiving football schedule: Jets-Patriots, Texas-TCU up next

There’s still football left on Thanksgiving Day, with an AFC East matchup between the Jets and Patriots and an Big 12 showdown between Texas and TCU.

Jim Rogash

With the first two NFL games in the books and a good percentage of Thanksgiving dinners off the table, there’s still some football left to be played on both the professional and collegiate ranks:

NFL: New England Patriots vs. New York Jets, 8:20 p.m. ET, NBC: Although the Pats seem to be cruising to a division title and the Jets have been a whipping post for jokes and Tim Tebow speculation, this AFC East divisional rivalry might be competitive: when these two teams met in Week 7, the Patriots needed a last-second field goal to force overtime before coming away with a 29-26 win. Since then, the teams' fortunes have gone in different directions, with the win sparking a four-game win streak for New England and a three-game losing streak for the Jets. But New York snapped out of that funk last week with a convincing win over the St. Louis Rams, so perhaps things are turning around for Rex Ryan's squad.

College football: TCU Horned Frogs vs. No. 16 Texas Longhorns 7:30 ET, ESPN: Texas-Texas A&M football on Thanksgiving is now a thing of the past thanks to the Aggies’ move to the SEC, but Texas-TCU is here to take its place as the intra-state opponents play for only the second time since the disbanding of the Southwest Conference in the mid-90’s. The Longhorns have won four consecutive games, and David Ash has bounced back from a poor 8-for-16, two pick performance in a win against Kansas with back-to-back strong games, completing 80 percent of his passes for 364 yards and two touchdowns last week against Iowa State
