Seahawks vs. Dolphins game recap: Miami wins thriller, 24-21

A Dan Carpenter 43-yard field goal in the final seconds was the difference in Miami’s 24-21 win Sunday over the Seahawks.

It was a battle to the finish, but a Dan Carpenter 43-yard field goal with four seconds left proved to be the game winner for the Miami Dolphins, who topped the Seattle Seahawks, 24-21 on Sunday afternoon in Miami.

This one was close from the beginning.

After a quiet first 25 minutes, Reggie Bush ran 21 yards for a touchdown to give Miami a 7-0 advantage with just five minutes to go in the first half. Bush finished the game with 87 yards rushing on 14 carries.

But the Seahawks answered right back. With less than a minute to go in the half, quarterback Russell Wilson hit Anthony McCoy on a three-yard pass to even things up.

Seattle then took a 14-7 lead in the third on a Michael Robinson touchdown reception, again from Wilson.

Action was interrupted near the end of the third quarter when the stadium’s sprinklers inexplicably turned on with both teams out on the field. But after a brief delay, the quarter ended without any more scoring, setting up a dramatic final period.

It all started when Daniel Thomas ran three yards for Miami to tie the game. But on the ensuing kickoff, Leon Washington returned the punt 98 yards for the second touchdown in five seconds of game time. The Seahawks quickly regained the lead, 21-14.

But the Dolphins would not be discouraged.

With five minutes to go, Ryan Tannehill found Charles Clay for a 29-yard pass to even it up again at 21-21, and that's where things stayed until Carpenter's late heroics.

Tannehill finished the game 18-of-26 passing for 253 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Both quarterbacks had pretty good afternoons. To go along with Tannehill’s numbers listed above, Wilson completed 21-of-27 passes for 224 yards and two touchdowns -- good for a 125.9 rating.

Injury report

For the most part, it looks like both teams escaped this game without suffering any serious injuries.

But did they cover?

The Seahawks were favored by three, but ended up losing by three, so no they did not cover.
