Stevie Johnson wants Chan Gailey to surrender play-calling duties

Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson wants head coach Chan Gailey to give up some play-calling duties.

After a 20-13 loss on Sunday to the Indianapolis Colts, Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson has called for his head coach, Chan Gailey, to surrender at least some of his play-calling duties.

Johnson, who finished the game with six receptions for 106 yards, said after the loss:

"How I see it, I think we need to let our quarterback (Ryan Fitzpatrick) call these plays."

"He's out there on the field. He sees the adjustments that need to be done. I think we just need to let him make adjustments on the go. I think that's the way we can move the ball better."

Johnson also said he felt his team began to move the ball a little better when Gailey allowed Fitzpatrick some freedom in making calls during the game. Johnson and the Bills tried to test the Colts’ defense on deep passes during the game, one of which resulted in a 63-yard reception for Johnson.

Bills running back C.J. Spiller declined to comment on Johnson's comments about Gailey's play-calling roles.

Spiller finished with 14 carries for 107 yards in the game. The yardage total was the highest for Spiller since the second game of the season when he had 123 yards on 15 carries against the Chiefs.
