Junior UNC guard Leslie McDonald hit five 3-pointers to go along with 24 points and five assists

Coming off a smashing at the hands of Cody Zeller and No. 1 Indiana, North Carolina responded with a 102-84 victory over UAB. Sophomore and Naismith Watch candidate James Michael McAdoo had a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Leslie McDonald hit five 3-pointers and totaled 24 points in the winning effort. After UAB pulled within six midway through the second half, McAdoo and McDonald hit consecutive buckets to put up a lead the Blazers would never touch.
In their second game against a ranked opponent (lost to Creighton Nov 14), UAB hung tough but were put away by an elite ACC team. Leading scorer Jordan Swing had 21 and multi-threat Rod Rucker had 13 points, six assists and five rebounds off the bench for the Blazers.
P.J. Hairston and Brice Johnson both had double digits off the bench for North Carolina, with 16 and 11 points respectively.
The Tar Heels play two more home games against inferior competition - East Tennessee State and Eastern Carolina - before traveling to Texas for a Dec 19 showdown. UAB finishes their three-game road trip against Middle Tennessee Wednesday and does not play another ranked opponent this season.
